FTZ Board Update - More Training/Outreach Events on the New Regulations

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE THIS UPDATE WITH YOUR OPERATORS, USERS, AND OTHERS WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN THE FTZ PROGRAM.

To provide training and enable discussion about the FTZ Board’s new regulations, we are planning a series of free training/outreach events across the country. In addition to the already announced event on May 8 in Atlanta, we have now scheduled a training/outreach session in Houston on May 17 and are planning a similar event for San Diego on September 13 (timed for the day after an industry conference in that city). We also hope to hold training/outreach events later this year in Washington, DC and at a location in the Northeast and a location in the Midwest.

Detailed information on the Atlanta event was sent in the last FTZ Board Update and is now available in the What’s New box on our website (www.trade.gov/ftz). Specific information on the San Diego event will be sent out and posted to our website once the event has been finalized. On May 17, 2012, I will be hosting outreach/training sessions in Houston, Texas. RSVPs are necessary for either of these sessions:

9:00 a.m. to noon – General training open to anyone interested in attending (including grantees) – Will cover a range of provisions of the new regulations, plus enable Q & A/discussion.

1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Outreach session for officials of grantee organizations – Will focus on regulatory provisions that have a direct impact on the grantee role, and enable Q & A/discussion.

There will be no charge for attendees.

The location for the Houston event is:

Bayou Room, 10th floor
1919 Smith Street
Houston, TX 77002

RSVPs are needed for the outreach/training events. To register for the Houston event, please e-mail your name, title, and company/organization to ftz@trade.gov or call Marsha Foust at (202) 482-2862 no later than May 14, 2012. Please specify which outreach session(s) you would like to attend.

And, as always, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
