FTZ Board Grantee Update
PLEASE SHARE THIS UPDATE WITH YOUR FTZ OPERATORS, USERS AND OTHERS WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN THE FTZ PROGRAM.
The proposed revised FTZ Board regulations are scheduled to publish tomorrow (12/30/10) in the Federal Register. This represents
the first major substantive revision proposed for the FTZ Board’s regulations since January 1990.
The as-published text of the proposed regulations will be available on the Federal Register website (www.federalregister.gov) and
will also be made available on the FTZ Board’s website (www.trade.gov/ftz). In order to assist grantees and others interested in the
FTZ program in understanding the proposed regulations, we are also making available 1) a summary of key provisions of the proposed
regulations and 2) a side-by-side comparison of the proposed regulations relative to the current regulations. Those two documents are
attached to this message as Adobe PDF files.
To enable parties to learn more about the proposed regulations and to ask questions, we will be holding a series of no-cost forums
for the public and for grantees in Washington and at key regional hubs. The first forums are scheduled for January 24 in Denver,
January 26 in Seattle, and January 28 in San Francisco. In each of those locations, the public forum should take place in the
morning, with the grantees-only forum following in the afternoon. Exact times and addresses for those events should be available
soon.
The Washington forums will be held at the Commerce Department building (1401 Constitution Ave., NW). The public forum in
Washington is scheduled for the afternoon of February 7, while the grantees-only forum is scheduled for the morning through
mid-afternoon of February 9. Additional forums are planned from mid-February through early March in Detroit, New York, Houston,
Atlanta, and Miami. We are also planning at least one no-cost webinar about the proposed regulations.
Once further details about the no-cost forums and webinar(s) are available, we will send out additional update e-mails and also
highlight the information in the “What’s New” box on our website.
